You Will Need

5mm needles

3 skeins Rowan Kid Classic

The Pattern

Cast on 36 st

Use faggotting lace pattern until scarf measures 150cm.

Cast off.

Work in ends.

Cut fifty-two 25cm lengths of yarn for tassels.

Take two of the lengths of yarn at a time, and knot through the ends of the scarf at even intervals.

Wet block.

Faggotting

R1: [k1, y2o, k2tog] repeat to end

R2: purl to end - letting the 2nd loop of each yo2 from the previous row drop (end with 36st on the needle)

R3: [k2tog, y2o, k1] repeat to end

R4: as R2

Where y2o means: wrap the yarn round the needle twice without knitting (so creating 2 loops on the needle)

The Pattern (make 2!)

Using the smaller needles, cast on 40 st (cable cast-on works well)

Rows 1-14: [K2 P2] repeat to end ('K2 P2 rib')

Switch to larger needles and repeat the following 4-row cable pattern 10 times:

Row 1: P6, K4, P2, K1, P2, K8, P2, K1, P2, K4, P8

Row 2: K8, P4, K2, P1, K2, P8, K2, P1, K2, P4, K6

Row 3: P6, C4B, P2, K1, P2, C4B, C4F, P2, K1, P2, C4F, P8

Row 4: K8, P4, K2, P1, K2, P8, K2, P1, K2, P4, K6

Switch to smaller needles and work 14 rows in K2 P2 rib.

Cast off in rib.

Join seam using mattress stitch, work in ends and block.

This is a 'one-size' ladies pattern - should fit most calf sizes.

(NOTE: Kidsilk Haze is not the same as Kidsilk Aura - Aura is a much heavier yarn (aran vs lace) - I note a lot of people have been making this with Aura and saying it takes a lot of yarn. Making it in Haze results in an exceptionally light scarf.)

Continue with repeats of R2 until scarf measures approx 110cm. This makes an approximately 140cm scarf - if you want it shorter or longer, adjust this mid-section accordingly - if you make it longer, you will need another skein of yarn.

Break yarn leaving enough to work 40 rows. Place 128 beads on yarn.

How to make it
Cast on 80 stitches VERY loosely.

Then launch into the fishnet pattern - yo, k2tog - for the entire scarf (both sides - there is no 'right side').
Once the scarf is the desired length (150cm-ish I would recommend), cast off - again VERY loosely.
